Which version to download for AMD Athlon

Postby agility on Tue Jul 18, 2006 2:32 pm

Could someone confirm the version to download.
The download page indicates Intel or AMD64

I'm going to install on an AMD Athlon server.
120GB HDD (New)
512MB
CD
PS2Mouse
Keyboard
NVidia GForce Video card
Linksys EtherFast 10/100 Network Card

TIA.

If your CPU is a 64 bit based one, choose " engarde-community-3.0.7.x86_64.iso", else if your CPU is not a 64 bit one, choose "engarde-community-3.0.7.i686.iso" (that support 32 bit processors).

But reading your hardware features i think that your processor is a 32 bit one, right ?
Then i have to suggest you to download the i686 version.

Maybe could help this reading to clear your ideas: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/I686

Here the download page: http://www.engardelinux.org/modules/index/mirrors.cgi

Let we know.

Thanks Vciaglia, your explaination was sufficient.

I'm going to install initially on an Intel p4 to get used to the install process before I work on my live server.

Have you read this: http://www.engardelinux.org/doc/guides/ ... ndex.shtml ?

It's the official "Quick Start Guide" with all the informations that you need.

When you boot from the CD, you will be promoted for the various network settings, as you follow the prompt's you'll get the option to install or to run from live CD.

Like i said, you have to wait a little bit, we're working on a new complete and improved documentation. However i think isn't so hard to install Engarde. If you have other problem, we are here.
