Hopefully someone will have a bit of time to assist me here;

Problem 1 : After installation and reboot the system comes upto a screen to either select Standard or Secure, at the bottom of the screen is boot: and my cursor is flashing and I can not select or type anything.

Problem 2: Is which are the correct IP address to use.

My system:
Sunfire V40z server connected to a network through a switch and the internet through a modem gateway.

To confirm the hardware works (it's New) I installed Win 7 and the system installed and connected to the network and Internet, no problem.

I have removed Win 7 and reinstalled EnGarde.
My ISP has given me a static IP of 205.xxx.xxx.xxx
My ISP has DNS server IP's of 657.XXX.xxx.xxx and 675.xxx.xxx.xxx

My Modem Gateway has an IP of 10.1.1.1
The other computers on the network have the IP's fixed

When I installed Win 7 I let it install using DHCP and it allocated
10.1.1.10 to eth0 255.255.255.0
10.1.1.11 to eth1 255.255.255.0

Gateway 10.1.1.1
DHCP: Server 10.1.1.1
DNS Server 10.1.1.1

When I install these numbers into EnGarde there is no Network or Internet Connection.

Any help appreciated

Cheers

Ron

What type of keyboard do you have? It should timeout and boot on its own. Do you have control of the keyboard once it boots?

What type of ethernet controller do you have? Can you look through the dmesg and lsmod output for an indication of which ethernet controller you have so we can troubleshoot it.
