Not Receiving E-Mails

Postby cmschube on Sun Dec 03, 2006 7:05 pm

Dec 3 16:32:23 ************ postfix/trivial-rewrite[6746]: warning: do not list domain ************.com in BOTH mydestination and virtual_alias_domains
Dec 3 16:32:23 ************ postfix/trivial-rewrite[6746]: warning: do not list domain ************.com in BOTH mydestination and virtual_alias_domains
Dec 3 16:32:23 ************ postfix/smtpd[6745]: disconnect from mrnwnd.************.com[192.168.0.110]

This is the error that I am receiving in my mail log. I don't understand what the "BOTH mydestination and virtual_alias_domains" line means. I'm going to assume I have something configured wrong.

I am using Mozilla Thunderbird as the client, and the client seems to communicate with the mail server fine.

Hope someone can help

cmschube,

What that means in that in your postfix main.cf file, you have the same domain listed in your mydestination directive as you do in your postfix virtual file. Therefore, you have one of two fixes depending on what your setup actually should be, you can either remove it from the virtual mail domain management section of the WebTool, or you can remove it from the hostnames section of the SMTP Server General Configuration section of the WebTool. If you choose the latter, make sure you replace it with a unique hostname.

This has absolutely nothing to do with your mail client talking to the server. This is a server configuration issue only.

Thanks for the reply, eric. I don't mean for this to turn into a step-by-step how to, but I found the quick start guide less than stellar when it came to giving details about configuring a e-mail server (hence the name "quick start", I guess), or it could be my lack of understanding, but is there anywhere else that gives better, or more in depth directions on how to configure a mail server on Engarde?

Thanks,
