Permission denied

Greetings,

I hesitated about putting this topic here or in Installation troubles.

The matter is, I finished installation and noticed an error in the Ip-address. I corrected it in the console after which I could log in at the webpanel. After filling out the forms the server rebooted and there it was. The server wasn't reachable anymore. I could log in at the console with the newly set password.

However. I get a permission denied on al directories, and on ip, ifconfig. Even the attempt to su did fail.

Does anyone know what's going on here?

When you login and insert your password type "newrole -r sysadm_r" and then your root password to be the "administrator/root" user. That's SeLinux.

Ah, that's why. Booting in standard mode did solve the problem, is it that SElinux is disabled when booting in standard mode?

Have you inserted the "root" password? Try again.

Yes, the root password which I used to login. Which is the same as set at the installation by the webpanel.

You have to follow this procedure to change the root password: http://www.engardelinux.org/doc/guides/ ... nfig.shtml

If you login directly as the root user, you may default to staff_r and still need to run newrole -r sysadm_r before doing many system others administration tasks.

Well, login as root to your machine locally or through ssh, Once you're on to transition over to sysadm_r, run:

newrole -r sysadm_r

The root password is your root password.

Still booting in standard mode ? Switch to secure mode.

Should I be booted in standard mode I wouldn't 'still' get the errors.

So, booting in secure mode and executing the commands above changes nothing.
