Installation without DNS server

Postby nzbn on Tue Jul 11, 2006 8:02 pm

Hi I'm trying to install EnGarde Linux fresh and I do not have a DNS server. I chose no networking on the install and did not pick to install DNS but the installer is asking me for a DNS Server name and appears to be trying to validate this so hence will not let me past. Is there a default way to setup Engarde without getting the DNS servers address etc I was planning on making this server the DNS server / Domain controller ?

Thanks

Ty

nzbn,

First of all, if you had the option to choose no networking during the install, then you weren't doing an install, you were using the liveCD. What you can do is when you are going through the install and it wants you to enter the DNS server information, just use 127.0.0.1 as the DNS server since the machine is going to be your DNS server anyway.

I will give that a go, had tried localhost but didnt think of giving the ipaddress :) Definitly chose the install option but the network setup did come up again prior the DNS so. Yup it is the liveCD but it has both on there installer and live CD. No networking choice comes before install or liveCD choice :)

Thanks
