That is also correct. It is installed under /opt, and I have the
following structure:
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2011-09-18 12:06 firefox-3.5.4
drwxr-xr-x 10 root root 4096 2011-09-17 15:56 firefox5
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2011-09-17 20:30 firefox6
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 2011-10-06 16:58 firefox7

Example, firefox6 The executable is located under
/opt/firefox6/firefox (executed from /usr/bin/firefox (=symlink to /opt...)
Here I did mkdir plugins, where I located
libnpjp2.so -> /usr/java/jre1.6.0_27/lib/i386/libnpjp2.so

Firefox finds this plugin, it appears both in about:plugins,
and under tools>add-ons.

Do you mean that I should use libjavaplugin instead of libnpjp2.so?

Btw: When starting firefox from its native directory /opt/firefox6....
and trying to execute the java internet banking logon app, Firefox just
vanishes, and leaves this error msg on the terminal screen:
Error occurred during initialization of VM
java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object
I do not see what this could be. Has it to do with "lang"=languages?
