I would say take a look at pertinent info (from another terminal on that
$ ps aux |grep -i pts
$ ps -eLf |grep -i pts
$ ps axms |grep -i pts
$ man ps # signals: PENDING or BLOCKED or IGNORED or CAUGHT
$ man select
